A large contingent of elderly are catching the PC fever and jumping into the Internet. The energetic baby boomers have grown up and become active elderly people looking to move out and explore the world surrounding them. The WWW and PCs in general have opened the doors to many forms of entertainment and excitement for these in the older generation.

No more are they destined to just playing bingo or cards with their nearby cohorts for their entertainment. Now with the aid of computers and the Internet they can play these games over the Internet with people from anywhere in the world. While learning how to use a computer is still one of the greatest challenges to some in the older generation, they can get online PC support, and when most of them learn how to use a PC, they cannot believe that they were ever worried about it at all.

Many seniors have voiced apprehension when they begin finding out how to use a PC and interact with friends over the WWW. The feeling of isolation is lifted immediately the very first time they send and receive their initial email messages with somebody they know. It doesn’t matter if the person is across the country or just across the street, the thrill is the same. Having the ability to reconnect with old acquaintances that they have not talked to for years is quite a big deal for these elderly people.
